Team Members and Responsibilities
- Dave Baird - Director, Academic Technologies (Responsible for the following people and services...)
- Jim Bona - Instructional Technology Coordinator - Responsible for:
- AV support for classes, including setup and removal of equipment
- Instructing faculty, staff, and students on the use of classroom technology
- Supporting special events (e.g. admissions events, special lectures for Centers and Institutes, reunion weekend, graduation, etc.)
- (Jim wears the maroon cape, rescues users in distress...)
- Joe Eakin - Senior Visualization Lab/Planetarium Technician & Designer - Responsible for:
- Programming and operation of the Ho-Tung Visualization Lab in support of curricular activities and collaborative faculty-student research
- Outreach activities involving the Visualization Lab for the community and regional school systems
- (Joe runs the "VisLab" and maintains an office in the Orion Nebula - first door on the right...)
- Rich Grant - Associate Director, Technology Planning - Responsible for:
- Researching and implementing emerging technologies (e.g. wireless, Web 2.0, digital audio/video solutions)
- Design and operation of digital media production, editing, and delivery solutions
- Supporting academic projects involving digital media (e.g. Colgate Conversations podcasts)
- (Rich researches and implements emerging technologies, flies planes, pretty standard stuff...)
- Ahmad Khazaee - Technology Support Analyst - Responsible for:
- All manner of technology support for Colgate's 2800 students
- Training and managing the Residential Computing Consultants, students responsible for technology support for their peers
- (Ahmad is a Colgate grad, and ranks #1 on FaceBook's "Most Friended" list...)
- Sarah Kunze - Instructional Technology Analyst - Responsible for:
- Imaging and maintaining classroom and public lab computers in >130 campus locations
- Designing and delivering technology workshop series to faculty and staff
- Providing one-on-one help for faculty and staff
- Chairing the software standards committee
- Supervising student workers who check and maintain classroom technology
- Nancy Miner - Media Services Coordinator - Responsible for:
- Coordinating all requests for media services to support classes and extracurricular events
- Manages ~100 student workers who provide 10.5 FTE worth of technology support for faculty and staff. These services include the showing of VHS and DVD movies in classes.
- Manages the lending of laptops, cameras, audio devices, data projectors, screens, easels, etc in support of all campus events.
- Ray Nardelli - Manager, Digital Media - Responsible for:
- Recording, editing, and delivery of most digital media for Colgate
- Training and supervising 2 students who digitize curricular material and arrange for its delivery via Blackboard
- Training and supervising one full-time intern and 20 video journalists (students) who assist all departments in the creation of video content. These students staff the Learning Commons 5 days per week in the evenings to support student academic video projects.
- All digital media workstations on Level 5, and the Burke audio/video studios on Level 1 in Case Library and Geyer Center for Information Technology.
- Mike Roberts - Multimedia Systems Technician - Responsible for:
- design, installation, support and service of audio/visual technologies in all campus learning spaces.
- Claudia Servadio-Coyne - Manager, Student Technology Resource Group - Responsible for:
- Supervision of 100+ student workers who solve student computing problems of all types
- Staffing ITS service desk and public computing labs with student workers
- (Claudia claims 2800 dependents on her tax return...)
- Darryl Simcoe - Associate Director, Instructional Technologies - Responsible for:
- Scheduling of campus learning spaces through Colgate's Events Management System
- Overseeing all campus classroom installations and upgrades
- Special curricular technology projects
- (Darryl is actively trying to figure out how to ride his Harley through Second Life...)
- Dan Wheeler - Senior Instructional Technology Analyst - Responsible for:
- Administration of Colgate Learning Management Systems (Blackboard and Moodle)
- Administration of ITS blog and wiki servers
- Researching emerging technologies
- Faculty and staff technology training and support
- (Dan is patiently waiting for access to a parallel universe where he can relax for a while...)
Curricular Support
Curricular support is provided by the Academic Technologies Team.
Our mission is "To enhance teaching and learning through the innovative use of appropriate technologies".

Technology Workshops
Technology workshops are scheduled multiple times each year. Our next series of Cloud Computing workshops will be in early March. All workshops will be taught in Case-Geyer 501 Cronin classroom.
