1 ITS installs Windows XP Professional, SP3 as the default Windows OS for new computers. Windows Vista will not become a campus standard in the 2009-2010 Academic year. We will continue to support Windows 2000 on older computers. Macintosh OS X.5 (Leopard) is the current standard on new computers.
2 New installations are MS Office 2003 and users will be migrated to Office 2003 during workgroup upgrades. New Macintosh installations are Office Version 2008. Office 2001 and 2004 are also supported.
3 RefWorks is recommended and supported by the Colgate Libraries. EndNote will be supplied to Instructors on request but is no longer fully supported as of 2007. See http://exlibris.colgate.edu/whatsnew/refworks.html to create a RefWorks Account.
Specialty Software - All software not listed above
ITS Funding and Cost Sharing is provided for a number of software titles. Cost Sharing may be provided if the software is being used for reasonable business reasons and it has been budgeted during the ITS yearly budget process in the fall of the preceding year (NOT at the time of purchase). Costs for items not budgeted will normally be borne 100% by department or user. Requests for unbudgeted cost sharing will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Adobe Products - we have a volume agreement with Adobe which covers many of their products. The agreement allows Colgate to purchase most titles at the lowest academic discount.
- Microsoft Products - we have a series of volume agreements with Microsoft. Most titles not listed above may be purchased through ITS.
Please contact the Helpline for specific information about specialty software, purchases and cost sharing.
